The best 5 word campaign promise EVER!

There has been lots of promises made on the campaign trail, enough to make your head spin. Let’s be honest, politicians tend to try and say what they think we want to hear but when they get in office they either forget, see that it’s harder to deliver than expected, or change their mind. So what would we want to hear as a society from these candidates? Here’s one: I will keep my promises!

This joke sums up the irony of political promises exceptionally well….

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

“Welcome to heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”

“No problem, just let me in,” says the man.

“Well, I’d like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”

“Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,” says the senator.

“I’m sorry, but we have our rules.”

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises…

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter

is waiting for him.

“Now it’s time to visit heaven.”

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

“Well, then, you’ve spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.”

The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: “Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.”

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he’s in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. “I don’t understand,” stammers the senator. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there’s just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?”

The devil looks at him, smiles and says,

“Yesterday we were campaigning…… Today you voted.”

Nuff said!

Just moved in? Don’t forget to change the locks

We asked our Miami Beach Locksmith when do customers should change their locks but not always do, here is his reply:

  1. When moving into a new office/home

People are spending hundreds of thousands of Dollars to buy their home, renovate it and fill it up with their valuable belongings. However, while many people invest heavily in almost every corner of their house they forget the most important one for their security, locks. Why do they need new locks if they just bought a new house? Because other people has the key too including real estate agents, previous tenants and contractors who worked on the house.

  2. Divorce/break up

divorce or break up are extremely tough on many people and may make them do foolish stuff. Don’t trust a partner with a broken heart, even if they gave you all their keys. The safest way is to change the locks or get it rekeyed.

  3. Upgrading your house security level

Security companies like Medeco and Multilock provides high security locks that makes it extremely hard to break. Ask you local locksmith for available options and prices. If you located in South Florida call our office at 1(866) 374-4840

Why You Should Not Try to Pick a Lock Yourself

It happens to the best of us. You juggle the kids, the diaper bag, your purse, twist the lock on the door, and close it. Then realize you’ve locked your keys in the house. Not only can you not get back in, but your car keys are on the same ring and you can’t leave to go get help. You might be tempted to try to pick the lock yourself, or get a neighbor to help you.
This is a huge mistake. You should never try to pick a lock yourself. It is always best to call a locksmith for assistance. For most locked door knobs or deadbolts, it can be extremely difficult to pick the lock. You could spend hours trying to get in and have little or no success. If you have kids in tow, the longer it takes to get inside the worse the situation becomes.
Not only will you have trouble getting inside, you could damage the lock in the process. Even if you get inside, your lock could be damaged beyond repair. Your key may no longer work afterward, or the door may no longer be secure.
The most troubling thing about a damaged lock is that you may not know that it is damaged. If your key still works, you may just assume that you successfully picked the lock and got into your home. You were lucky, and now you can go about your business. But there could still be damage to the inner workings of the lock, damage you can’t see. Only a trained locksmith will be able to tell if the lock is still working well enough to be secure.
This damage makes your lock easy to pick by anyone who comes along. It puts your security and the security of your home in great jeopardy. If you have a weak lock it can be more easily picked or broken by someone wanting to gain access to your home.
For all of these reasons it is best to get a professional locksmith to open your locked door. A professional, trained and certified Boca Raton locksmith can gain access to your home without damaging the lock or making it weak. This maintains the integrity of the lock and keeps you, your family and your possessions safe.
If you or someone else has already picked your lock, you should have it replaced immediately. A locksmith Boca Raton FL can help you choose the right lock and get it installed properly. They can also help you understand what to do in case you get locked out again.
Don’t take chances with your security. Always get professional assistance with any lock, and you will have the peace of mind knowing that your family is safe.

The Best 3 Ways to Hide a House Key

There are a lot of reasons people hide house keys. They might want to be able to allow children, teens, maids or house guests access to their house without worrying about making a lot of copies. A Miami Beach locksmith can rekey your locks or replace them, but you want to avoid this if possible.

It is important that if you hide a key on your property it is not in an obvious place. Unfortunately, most of the old standbys are no longer safe. You cannot just hide your key in your mailbox, under the door mat, or in the flower bed next to the porch. If you want to keep burglars out but let family in, you’re going to have to be very clever about your hiding place. A Miami Beach locksmith can give you some ideas.

Luckily there are a lot of products out there these days designed to make hiding your house key very easy. However, many burglars are familiar with all of these devices, so they know where to look. Instead of relying on these products alone, you have to get fairly creative. A good Miami Beach locksmith can help you come up with new ideas and safe ways to hide house keys. In the meantime, here are the three best ways to hide your house key.

Fake Sprinkler Hide-A-Key

rockThis product is fairly new and visible online. It is a great way to hide your house keys in plain sight. However, you need to be cautious when using this method. If the sprinkler system at your home looks nothing like this product, it will be easily spotted by anyone looking for a way in. You might want to purchase several of these and hide the key in only one of them, making it a more plausible hiding place.

Outdoor Thermometer

rockThere are hide-a-key products that are outdoor thermometers that open up to hide a key or two. These are excellent, because they look and work just like any other outdoor thermometer. If you place it just outside your door or window where someone would likely look at a thermometer each day, the potential thieves will never look twice at it. A great advantage to this one is that you can put it right by the door. The person getting into the house can get the key while blocking what they are doing from view of the street. As far as anyone watching knows, that person had the key with them. No one will ever realize they are getting the key out of the thermometer.

Fake Rock Combined with a Lock Magnet Key Case

rockA hollowed out rock placed next to the porch is a common hiding place for house keys. However, because it is common, many thieves will look in that area first. If the rock looks out of place or different from others, it will be easily spotted as a key holder. Protect your key further by putting it in a lock magnet key case. This case requires a combination to be used to unlock it to get the key out. It will fit within the hollowed out rock for dual protection of your key. A Miami Beach locksmith can provide you with additional products that fit within the rock to protect your key from unauthorized use.

Locksmith Tip of the Week!

Hey guys, Locksmith here.

We want to start a new series with you of weekly locksmith tips in order to make sure you are as protected as you should and can be.
Make sure to stay posted and refer back to this blog to gather your weekly tips 🙂

This week we want to talk about the importance of locking up your windows. I know this may seem like an obvious tip to you but, 80% of windows do not have nailed locks protecting from a breakin. Although many windows come with the manufactured lock system, a burglar can learn how the system of a certain lock works and develop a way to break in from the outside.

Therefore, we stress that you add an additional locking system onto all of your windows in order to provide extra protection incase of a breakin.

You can screw these lock attachments on yourself, or call a locksmith and we would be happy to help you out. If you are looking for a particular color lock to be able to match your existing window trim, do not fret as you should be able to do so.

Here is the tricky part, once you have got your locks installed, make sure to use them 🙂

We have seen instances where families will go the extra mile to add the additional protection onto their windows but then not use them. We do understand that it is an extra hassle to lock and unlock and extra piece of your window, yet we cannot express the importance! Plus if you already have it then why not use it!

Once again, should you have any questions as to how to lock up or install your window lock, make sure to contact us and we would be happy to help out!!
