We see them everywhere, driving in their van or hard at work. But did you ever stop to think what they might encounter during those long hours of work? We asked our locksmiths to tell us the funniest-craziest-scariest-saddest cases they've been called to. Their stories surprised even us. So here they are, and you can read and share them too. Yes, these stories happened. It's crazy what our Florida Locksmiths see every day. But don't worry, as they say in our office: we don't care how crazy the situation is, we will solve it!

What Is the Best Home Security Solution in South Florida?

When you move to a new home or office, it is very important to make sure that you are the only one who can access your property. Amid all the excitement of getting your new keys, make sure that you are the only one that can use them. A Miami locksmith offered its services and helped customers understand which security solution is best for them when moving to a new property. Is it better to replace your locks or rekey them?

Moving to a new location where you’re not sure about the security level can be quite dangerous. It is difficult to know who else has access to enter your property. Did the real estate agent lend out a set to contractors? Did the preceding owner make copies for relatives? Was there a cleaning crew that had keys to enter?

Home insurance companies assume that people take the proper steps in securing their home and business when they move in. Should they discover that the new resident did not make the minimal procedure in security such as changing the existing locks, they are likely not to cover certain claims. This could end up costing you a large deal of money.

Many people make wrong decisions regarding their home’s security because they suppose that changing the locks will cost them a lot of money. But this is not necessarily the case and it is not needed to go for changing out all the hardware in your new. Rekeying is a good alternative in such cases.

Call us today at 1-866-776-6062 and our professional locksmith will help you better understand your options and their costs

Should You Change or Rekey Your Locks
Advise by a US Locksmith Technician

Changing locks is a simple task that can easily improve the quality of your security whether it be in your home, office space, other properties etc. For example if you are moving into a home that was once inhabited by others, it’s always wise to change or rekey the locks to further insure the protection of your home. There are situations where previous key owners, housekeepers or maintenance technicians had key access to the home which in some instances led to break-ins. Regardless of who lived in your house before, it is wise to either rekey or change your locks before moving all your valuables and family in.

Rekeying and changing locks also applies to someone moving into a new office space, as it is very important to secure the space to further protect your office’s security at all times.

Many times changing locks or rekeying could be a solution for divorces or breakups. If you are a home or apartment owner and no longer want your significant other to access your space, rekeying is the way to go.

US Locksmith ran a test between different types of deadbolts in the marketplace and have made a valuable assessment on what are the best products to go with through the three different price ranges: $200-$150, $150-$100, $100-$0

Price range ($140+) The number one locks are either Mul-T-Locks or Medeco High Security Locks. These locks are without fail the hardest to pick and break into- it requires a lot of skill and therefore we believe almost unbreakable. They are widely used at banks and prisons as they are without fail the toughest in the market. At US Locksmith, we believe it is worth every penny of it.

Price range ($150-$100) ASSA M80 is a great lock as it is the only lock in this price range that has a high kick in resistance. You would be surprised to learn that even deadbolts can easily be kicked into in order to break a lock. This lock is a great alternative if you chose not to spend $100 more for the Medeco Maxum lock..

Price range ($100-$0) We at US Locksmith recommend going with the Kwikset 99800-087 or a Schlage deadbolt. These locks will most definitely get the job done but is not as breakin resistant as the other locks. The advantage of going with the Kwikset 99800-087 is the convenience of rekeying the lock- it is very simple. You can easily rekey a lock for temporary access lets say if you have gusts and then rekey the lock back to its original state without assistance from a locksmith. With all this being said, at Professional US Locksmith we feel the urge to once again make a note that this lock or other locks in this price range are not so difficult to break into or pick.

Many people ask, “what’s better, replacing or rekeying a lock?” At US Locksmith we believe in changing your lock if your existing one is not very secure. We really cannot express the importance of investing into a better lock as it can improve the quality of your security dramatically. If your existing lock is kick in resistant and more complex such as the Medeco Maxum we recommend that you rekey the lock as it will save you a lot of money and the quality of the lock should remain intact.

Call a US Locksmith technician at 1-866-776-6062 and we would be happy to consult you in home security improvement as well as change or rekey your locks.
