How I Got Mistaken for a Bank Robber in Fort Lauderdale – A Locksmith’s True Story

how did our locksmith find himself almost arrested for bank robbery in Fort Lauderdale

When you’re a locksmith, your job can take you into some unusual situations — but getting arrested for bank robbery wasn’t on my bingo card.

Let me explain.

At US Locksmith Fort Lauderdale, most of our work is straightforward: unlock a door, install a lock, help someone get back into their car or home. But one day, I was called out by an older gentleman who needed assistance. The job totaled $450, and like many of our clients, he didn’t have cash or checks on hand. So we agreed to meet at his bank to withdraw a certified check.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. I’m an immigrant — I speak English well, but I have a strong accent. I’m in my late 20s, dark-haired, and I don’t exactly blend in with the Boca crowd. So when I walked into that Fort Lauderdale bank beside a much older man and stood by while he requested a large check made out to me… let’s just say it raised a few eyebrows.

Before I knew it, I was being handcuffed by officers who believed I was in the middle of robbing a senior citizen. Want to know what happened? Read on, on our Fort Lauderdale US Locksmith page
